These Refried Black Beans are super easy and quick to make. They are also healthier than traditional refried beans. The creamy texture is a welcomed addition to any Mexican dish. 🌸 Method 🌸
  • Drain and rinse the beans then add them to a blender.
  • Add the onions, chicken broth, garlic, and salt. Pulse to the thickness you desire.
  • In a preheated frying pan, add the oil. Pour in the blended beans and sauté. Low simmer for 5 minutes. Add more broth if you want a runnier refried bean.
  • Done! Top with queso fresco and serve warm!
  • Tip - To take this to the next level and truly authentic to the heart of Mexico, add Epazote to the beans while simmering. This is an herb true to Mexico. It can be substituted with Cilantro (but it is not exactly the same).
