Aguas Frescas Series: Mango

When mangos are on sale, I buy more than I can eat. I end up with a few mangoes that will become my next Agua Fresca. This drink is refreshing with a hint of sweet, mango goodness and making "fresh water" is an ideal way to hydrate. If you love mangoes, this is a delicious way to ensure they don't go to waste. And if you are one of those lucky people who have a mango tree, add this drink to your repertoire!

Prep Time:     15 mins
Serving Size:  8 cups

Ingredients
  • Large Mangos - 2
  • Sugar - 1/3 cup
  • Water - 8 cups

Method
  • Peel the mangoes, deseed, and add to a blender. Add the sugar and 2 cups of the water. Blend and pour through a strainer to isolate the pulp. You will end up with a thick "smoothie" like consistency.

  • Add the pulp back into the blender along with the remaining 6 cups of water. Mix on low to prevent spillage. Pour the mixture through the strainer again, directly into the smoothie mixture. Discard the pulp.
  • Mix well and chill in the refrigerator. Serve over ice and enjoy! This will keep in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. You may have to stir a little when serving.

Enjoy! From my mango lovers!
